FAQs and INFO

Where is home?

I am fortunate enough to split my time between Santa Barbara and Marin, CA. San Francisco, Sonoma, Napa, and Santa Barbara Counties are where I find myself working most often, but I'm frequently asked to travel to a myriad of destinations, sometimes as far away as Connecticut. I feel very lucky to have a loyal customer base that sees me as their preferred photographer.

Do you charge a travel fee?

There is no travel fee for the greater Bay Area, Sonoma, Napa, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. Further afield of those locations I do charge a nominal travel fee. Let’s talk about your location.

Do you shoot film or digital?

I shoot digital, but I’m happy to add medium format black and white film upon request. It’s a format that I enjoy. There are additional charges to include film in your package.

How would you describe your wedding photography style?

I pride myself on being a professional documentarian, capturing the day as it unfolds with very little interference. Clients are given room to relax and be themselves. That said, clients can be assured that if some direction is needed, I offer it in way that preserves the authenticity of the moment. My ambition is to provide a naturally beautiful depiction of your wedding day.

Do you work from a shot list?

I work from a shot list for group photos only. If there are any sentimental items, or individuals that require special attention, please make a note of them. Photos of things like the dress, the shoes, the flowers, and the magical kiss at the end of the ceremony are part and parcel of what I do, so there’s no need to call them out on the shot list.

Do you work with a second photographer?

I emphatically recommend working with a second photographer for weddings with a guest count of seventy or more. The second photographers I hire are excellent at mirroring my style so clients can be confident of aesthetic continuity. My second photographers are people with whom I’ve worked closely for a number of years.

Elopements and smaller events of less than fifty people can be covered exceptionally well without a second photographer.

How many hours is included in a full wedding package?

Typically, eight consecutive hours will cover getting ready, first look, bridal party portraits, group portraits, ceremony, cocktails, and reception. I collaborate closely with your wedding coordinator to ensure the schedule will provide ample coverage. If you feel additional coverage is needed, I am happy to accommodate for an additional $600 an hour. That additional hour also covers the second shooter. If you are throwing an intimate gathering that requires less coverage, it would be my pleasure to provide you with a custom quote. Simply fill out my contact form with the details.

How many hours is included in a city hall or elopement package?

Two hours will cover the entire event. If you would like to take more photos at an another location within 3 miles it’s an additional $250.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

I love photographing engagement sessions. They offer a chance to work together before the wedding, which is a wonderful way to ease nerves and provide a beautiful set of casual photos of you and your partner at your favorite location. It’s a perfect way to show off the depth and dynamism of your relationship.

When do we receive our photos?

It typically takes 4-6 weeks to deliver the final gallery of images. I always send a handful of teasers soon after the wedding so you can get a head start on your thank you cards. Once the gallery is live you may download the high resolution photos and have the option to purchase prints and products. The online gallery remains available for one year.

How do we book your services?

I ask for a 50% retainer and a signed contract. The final invoice is sent two weeks prior to your wedding date.
